There is Another Life

At the end of the recent lockdown, I listened to an interesting radio interview with a young man who was planning a weekend hike in a beauty spot with some of his friends. It happened to be on a Saturday evening, and this young man said that before Covid he would normally have been focusing on visiting a favourite bar/nightclub to party with his friends. However, all this had now changed, and he was introduced to discovering the wonders of the created world for the first time. He went on to enthuse about the great benefits of this new way of life that he has found and regretted that he had totally missed it in his life up to then.

While listening to this interview I found myself identifying with this young man in a certain sense. I, too, in my youth for a number of years passed many weekends visiting my local hostelry to socialize with my friends and acquaintances and reckoned that this was the ‘norm’ for people generally.However, like the young man on the radio, in my 30’s I was introduced to another way of life which I have since adopted as the driving force of my life. Just as this young man was introduced to the CREATED WORLD for the first time, even so, I came to know the CREATOR for the first time, and the wonderful NEW LIFE which HE offers. For the remainder of this message, I would like to commend to you this NEW LIFE that I found.

Long ago, Jesus Christ introduced this new life to a man called Nicodemus, who was a religious leader. Their conversation is recorded in John chapter 3 in the Bible. In verse 3, Jesus told this man that to enter this new life he needed to be “born again”. He went on to explain that what Nicodemus needed was a SPIRITUAL REBIRTH. The same is true for everyone born into this world. The Bible tells us there is a void in the heart of every person which can only be filled when they discover this NEW LIFE for themselves. To enter this NEW LIFE one must first recognize that he is a SINNER – not a term you will hear much about nowadays.

However, the Bible affirms that: “ALL have sinned, and fallen short of the glory of God,” (Romans 3v23). It says further: “your SINS have separated between you and your GOD,” (Isaiah 59v2). This means that each one of us has a problem (sin) which hinders us from having a LIVING RELATIONSHIP with God – which is the NEW LIFE I REFER TO. At this point, we must turn again to the Bible where we read: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners,” (1 Tim. 1:15). This incredible statement means that if anyone simply trusts Jesus Christ to save them from their sins, they will immediately enter this new life, and have a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with God.

FINALLY, God says about this new life: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ [by believing in Him], he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new,” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

YOUNG FRIEND

There IS another life available to you. I was privileged to enter it in my 30’s. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND it to you. It will bring PEACE, STABILITY, AND FULFILMENT to your life in the here and now, and an assurance that you will be with GOD forever in the hereafter. The best news of all is that this NEW LIFE IS ABSOLUTELY FREE. Like the young man on the radio, all you have to do is to choose to receive it – it is a GIFT. (“The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” – Romans 6v23.) “Remember now thy CREATOR IN THE DAYS OF THY YOUTH” (Ecclesiastes 12v1).
